Children’s Dental Hygiene
Children's Dentist in Calgary
Learning the importance of proper oral hygiene is something that all children should be introduced to at an early age. Brushing, flossing, being mindful of certain foods, and of course regular visits to the dentist, are all essential parts of a child’s life. A family-wide focus including parents, caregivers, and siblings helps to promote strong and healthy habits. To give your family a helping hand, Panatella Dental in NW Calgary offers children’s services performed by a general dentist. Our Child Hygiene Program is designed to reinforce good habits and provide dental care from a young age. Talk to one of our staff today for more information about the Child Hygiene Program.

Happy Visits with a Family Dentist in Calgary
Going to the dentist for the first time can be a little bit scary. To prepare very young children for their first appointment, Panatella Dental provides complimentary happy visits for children under the age of three. These brief dental examinations allow your child to meet our dentists and hygienists in a friendly and non-threatening manner, hopefully helping them understand that dental offices are safe and even a little bit fun!
Your Child’s First Visit
The children’s dentist examination itself will be brief but comprehensive. A dentist or hygienist will check your child’s teeth for decay, examine your child’s bite, and scan the gums, jaw, and oral tissues for any potential problems. At subsequent dental visits, we will slowly introduce new procedures. On the second visit we will clean your child’s teeth, at the third visit we can introduce polishing, and at the fourth visit your child will be ready to receive fluoride treatments (with your permission). We recommend x-ray imaging after your child reaches their 5th birthday, but we may suggest it earlier if we notice signs of tooth decay.
Our dentists and hygienists will discuss their findings with you, go over any needed oral health care instructions, and relay any dental developmental issues they may have noticed. As always, Panatella Dental is ready to answer any questions or concerns you may have about your care.
