Dr. Joel Thurmeier
A 2000 graduate of University of Saskatchewan’s College of Dentistry, Dr. Thurmeier has dedicated his career to helping his patients understand and choose the best treatment options for their individual needs.
In addition to practicing in Panorama Hills, Dr. Thurmeier has been personally involved in the Northern Hills communities for years, regularly giving oral health instruction at elementary schools and preschools in Northwest Calgary. Dr. Thurmeier practices all aspects of general dentistry and particularly enjoys restorative procedures, endodontics, Invisalign®, and is a provider of BOTOX® Cosmetics for Facial Aesthetics.
Outside clinic life, Dr. Thurmeier loves to travel with his wife and three children.
Dr. Achala Bhala
Dr. Bhalla graduated with her Degree in Dentistry from the University of British Columbia in 2002. Since then, she has practiced general family dentistry in both Edmonton and Calgary. Dr. Bhalla’s patient philosophy is to provide comprehensive patient care in a safe and comfortable environment. She likes to motivate her patients to aim for a healthy mouth and a beautiful smile.
Dr. Bhalla has lived in Panorama Hills for many years and has two children with her husband Barry, who practices Orthodontics in Northeast Calgary. Dr. Bhalla has practiced dentistry at Panatella Dental since we opened our doors and has been an excellent addition to our team and this community.
Dr. Manon Foidart
Dr. Foidart graduated from the University of Manitoba in 2015. She also received a Bachelor of Science in Dentistry.
Dr. Foidart is originally from the francophone community of Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba. Manon started her dental career as a hygienist, practicing for 3 years at a clinic in Morden, Manitoba before returning to school to become a dentist. She then returned to the same clinic before heading west to Calgary. She is passionate about providing quality dental care for her patients.
Dr. Foidart enjoys being active. In addition to running and travelling, she has a special interest in flying and is in the process of getting her pilot’s licence.
Dr. Preston Adams
Born and raised in Calgary, Dr. Adams graduated with a B.Sc. from Brigham Young University, as well as a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Midwestern University. Preston always wanted to be a dentist – it was either that or a rock star. Dentistry eventually became his primary career choice because it became too difficult to maintain the long rock star hair.
Preston has been on a humanitarian mission trip to Honduras and travelled to the Kingdom of Tonga to provide much needed dental services. Preston has lived in and visited many parts of the US and North America and speaks fluent Spanish.
Preston loves outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, and swimming, as well as travelling with his family. He is married, with three sons and two daughters.
Dr. Allison Skrenes
Dr. Allison Skrenes graduated with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of British Columbia in 2011, joining Panatella Dental that same year. Allison is highly motivated, wanting nothing more than to provide her patients with the highest quality of care. Her practice philosophy is to ensure that each patient feels comfortable and informed while receiving exceptional dental care.
Dr. Skrenes promotes prevention and offers techniques in maintaining excellent oral health. Her calm demeanour and gentleness have helped her to become very successful at Panatella Dental. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Skrenes loves spending time with her husband and children, enjoying the outdoors, volunteering, and participating in sports.
Dr. Nicole Adams
A 2009 graduate of the University of Saskatchewan College of Dentistry, Dr. Adams focuses on providing quality dental work in a comfortable and caring environment. She enjoys many aspects of dentistry, though she says the most rewarding is helping to get a patient out of pain. Her areas of interest include preventative dentistry, pediatric dental care, and endodontics. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Adams’ favourite things include cooking with her husband, quilting, camping, exploring Alberta, and any activity that gets the family outside.
Karen is a native to Calgary. She completed her certificate in Dental Assisting at SAIT and then joined the Northern Hills Dental team in 2005 as an Office Administrator. In 2006, Karen decided to slightly change career paths and made the move to Ontario to further her education at the Canadian Institute of Dental Hygiene in Hamilton. She now rejoins us as a registered Dental Hygienist. Karen knows how important care, service and quality are, so she makes it her goal to provide her patients with an exceptional dental experience.
Branka finished her dental hygiene training at the University of Manitoba in 2004. Since then, she has practiced hygiene at several offices in Calgary including the dental office at Foothills Hospital. Branka worked at the Foothills Hospital dental office for almost a year, taking care of medically compromised people who not only needed exceptional dental hygiene care and education but significant emotional support as well.
Branka loves interacting with patients of all ages and nationalities and makes them feel at home when they come to visit our office. In her spare time, Branka likes meeting friends and her two sons, Nick and Jack who are the sunshine of her life! Branka also loves to visit Copenhagen to visit her dad, sister and her sister’s family.
Tanya started in the dental field as a Dental Assistant, obtaining her certification from Columbia College in 2006. After spending some time working as a Dental Assistant, Tanya wanted to grow in the dental field and chose to return to school to become a Dental Hygienist. After graduating from Toronto College of Dental Hygiene in 2010, she returned to Western Canada. Tanya possesses a calm, patient demeanor and works hard to make all her patients feel comfortable. When not at the office, Tanya enjoys hiking, yoga, and spending time with her husband and two young children – Daniel and Emma.
Ramanvir moved to Canada from India in 2006 and pursued her ambition of becoming a Registered Dental Hygienist. She graduated from Canadian Business College in Toronto in 2009 and joined the Panatella Team in 2010. Her passion is working and interacting with clients and promoting high-quality dental care. In her spare time Ramanvir loves spending time with her husband and their two beautiful daughters. She also enjoys cooking, traveling and is a huge action movie buff!
Kadian is a former Dental Assistant and received a First Class Honors Diploma in Dental Hygiene from The Ontario Dental Education Institute in 2014. Kadian believes “when you know better you’ll do better,” and so strives to provide excellent patient education with compassionate and gentle care. Outside of the dental world, Kadian is a former club promoter who loves her native reggae/dancehall music. She’s a self-proclaimed girly girl; she loves makeup, hair extensions and is a shopaholic. When not discovering the wonderful experiences of the west, you can find Kadian in one of Calgary’s many malls or being a proud soccer mom.
I was born and raised in the city of Calgary. My career so far has been full of many unique opportunities, from working as a Disney princess to working on a remote archaeological dig in Australia. I’ve even been a waitress for the New Zealand national rugby team and Governor General. However, I always had an interest in the world of dentistry. In 2013 I obtained my Dental Hygiene Diploma with honours from the APLUS Institute in Toronto, Ontario. I was privileged to be named valedictorian of my class. I am very passionate about my profession and find great satisfaction in helping others. My main focus as a dental hygienist is to ensure high quality patient care and comfort. Outside of work, I absolutely love to travel the world and experience new cultures with my partner, Dan. I am also very passionate about cooking, the arts, music and spending time outdoors.
Sukhi was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. She graduated from the Toronto College of Dental Hygiene in October of 2013. She has practiced Dental Hygiene in Slave Lake, Edmonton and Calgary. Patient comfort, building relationships and ensuring high quality care are her priorities. Outside of work, Sukhi enjoys spending time with her family, doing hair and crafting! Calgary is home to Sukhi now, but she will forever be a die hard Oilers fan!
Born and raised in Calgary, AB, Christina moved to BC and graduated with honors from the hygiene program at the Vancouver College of Dental Hygiene. Christina loves interacting with patients and tries to make every visit an awesome one. Christina loves trying new food, whether it be cooking it herself or just eating it. She enjoys hanging out with friends and family and likes visiting Vancouver whenever she can. In her spare time, you can find her playing basketball around the city, or at home catching up on some of her favorite shows like The Big Bang Theory or having a Netflix marathon.
Sumat was born and raised in India and moved to Canada in 2015. She has always wanted to be in the dental field so she started her career path with being a hygienist first and maybe in the future she’ll be a dentist too. She recently graduated from The Canadian Academy of Dental Hygiene in Mississauga, Ontario. She is a self-motivated person and strongly believes in having a positive attitude towards life. She has always strived to provide a comfortable and caring environment for her clients. Other than working as a hygienist, she loves travelling, shopping, dancing, binge watching shows on Netflix and bungee jumping. While in school, she worked as a sales associate at some luxury brand stores which turned her into a shopaholic. P.S. Her current obsession is buying new makeup and Siberian husky puppies.
Cheryl was born and raised in Calgary. She graduated as a dental assistant in 2014 and decided to pursue her dream as a hygienist a year later. Cheryl graduated with honours at Toronto College of Dental Hygiene in 2017.
Cheryl’s passion comes from the joy of helping others and building relationships with patients. Her hobbies include doing spin and practicing hot yoga during her free time.
Our Admin Team
Born and raised in Calgary, Pina has a fun, loving personality that brings such positive energy to those who know her. When she is not working Pina enjoys all things Calgary has to offer, exploring new restaurants with great friends, festivals and cultural events. Spending quality time with family and friends, relaxing outdoors and gardening are some of her favorite activities. She also loves traveling, watching movies and reading.
Jody was born and raised in Central Alberta. She attended the College of the Rockies in Cranbrook, BC, and graduated from the Dental Assistant Program in 2000. Jody is Panatella Dental’s Office Coordinator and ensures that everything runs smoothly for staff and patients alike. When she’s not working Jody spends her time with her boyfriend Chris, walking and biking the trails where they live. She loves traveling to hot destinations like Hawaii, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Las Vegas and Arizona. She loves the Calgary Flames and tries to attend home games when she can. She tries to take in the Stampede every year and attend a concert or two. Jody is a huge fan of the Long Island Medium. She also sells jewelry in what spare time she has and enjoys meeting lots of people through trade shows and home parties.
Andrea moved to Calgary from the small town of High Prairie with her husband Rob and their feisty cat Bob. In her spare time, Andrea likes going for walks down 17th Ave. and checking out the unique shops, hiking in the mountains, and trying new restaurants and pubs. Every summer they go to Penticton to enjoy the weather and the wineries. She likes taking time to go to her lake lot back home at Shaw’s Point to hang out with family and friends.
Joanne joined the team at Panatella Dental in October 2017. She has been a dental administrator for the past two years, after retiring from a rewarding 25-year career as an Oil and Gas Scheduler. She loves working with people and helping them with their dental treatment needs.
Joanne was born in B.C. but has called Calgary home for the majority of her life. Joanne and her husband Bil have 4 children between them, and three grandchildren that they love to spoil rotten. They love Calgary and have been very fortunate to travel to many countries around the world. New Zealand and Italy are on their bucket list next. Joanne’s hobbies are cooking up a storm, getting together with friends and family, and she LOVES watching boxing, mixed martial arts, and ultimate fighting. She is also an avid gardener and can often be found helping others to design and plant their own beautiful flowerbeds.
Stephanie is originally from Grand Forks BC, but recently moved to Airdrie after spending two years in St.John’s, NL becoming a level II Dental Assistant. On days off, Stephanie enjoys live music, hiking and spending time with her boyfriend Shawn, and her energetic dachshund, Charlie.
Kerri was born and raised in Calgary. She has been working in the dental field for 10 years as a dental receptionist, and loves helping people with their dental needs.
Kerri and her family enjoy hiking and being in the mountains. They spend a lot of time in or around Canmore. In the summer, Kerri and her son love going to amusement parks, and the seasonal parks around the city. When not working, Kerri likes to be with friends and family, volunteer at her sons school, watch movies and read.
Tricia first joined Panatella Dental back in 2015 and work with the team for a few months before returning to her hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Tricia comes back to us with a fresh new perspective on building relationships and creating a friendly environment for our patients. She keeps busy with her daughter Chelsea. During her spare time, she enjoys kickboxing and practicing her pad work with friends. When time permits, she takes great delight in taking naps.
Sophanny has been working with Dr. Thurmeier for what seems like forever. On her off time she keeps busy with her son and all her activities. She likes to listen to rap and R&B. She loves fashion and going out with friends for dinner.
Joanne comes to us from New Brunswick, where she graduated with her Dental Assisting Diploma in 2005. After working a few years in the Maritimes, Joanne headed west, settling in Calgary in 2008. Joanne is a focused and self-motivated person who takes a positive approach in everything she does.
Hannah is a Vancouver Island native who came to Calgary in 2012, after living in Northern California for twelve years. She graduated from the KDM Dental College in 2014 and since then has discovered a passion for anything surgical! She enjoys working with children and furthering her knowledge in all areas of dentistry. Hannah loves dancing in her car, cheering on the Vancouver Canucks, and hiking with her yellow lab Sophie. You’ll also never see her turn down pizza with a glass of wine! Hannah would love to visit Finland, Scotland, and Italy to experience more of her heritage!
Please help us in welcoming our new Dental Assistant, Sarah! Sarah is a born and raised Calgarian. She attended Columbia College in 2015, and has been in the dental field ever since. In her free time, Sarah loves roller blading, spending time with her 3 rescue cats and travelling.
Sarah is passionate about the dental field and enjoys learning new skills each day. Having a positive attitude and a gentle manner are very important to her. Sarah would love to travel to the Bahamas in the future to go shark cage diving.
Pat comes to us from Saskatoon, after retiring from the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Dentistry. Pat served as the College’s Dental Assistant Supervisor for over 27 years. Pat was motivated to come to Calgary to be able to spend more time with her two daughters and grandchildren.
Dana became a dental assistant at age 18, graduating from SAIT. She has worked in many offices from Victoria, BC to Lethbridge to Aidrie. After a few years at home raising her little ones, Dana is excited to be assisting again. When not being a mom or a dental assistant, Dana can be found at Jazzercize where she used to be an instructor. She is excited to join the Panatella team!
Kaitlin comes to Panatella Dental from Edmonton where she worked in a prosthodontic specialty practice. It was there she found her love for helping people with their smile. In her spare time Kaitlin enjoys hiking in the mountains, spending time with family, and watching historical documentaries on Netflix.
